Oak Hill Fire & Rescue is an Advanced Life Support (ALS)
organization providing care at the EMT-Paramedic level. Presently, Oak
Hill Fire & Rescue is the only fire department in Burke County providing
this level of care to the citizens of it's community. With approximately 20
first responders on roster, Oak Hill Fire & Rescue strives to provide 24
hour medical coverage to the Oak Hill community, parts of the Pisgah
National Forest, the visitors at the Brown Mountain ORV area, and even a
section of the City of Morganton, including Freedom High School.
Oak Hill
Fire & Rescue requires that each first responder complete at least the NC
EMT-Basic course and become certified by the state to provide care at that
level. Members can further their pre-hospital education by completing
the EMT-Intermediate and EMT-Paramedic courses if desired, all through the
support of the fire department.
